Woke up for school run and threw my back out ... strapped a belt on and dropped teen - made myself presentable for morning team calls ...
Finished the calls - Popped some seriously strong pain killers, stuck a pain patch on and jumped in the car to go see a client.
The client wanted shiny AI objects ... the equivalent of a Maserati to do milk van deliveries 😕- Had some serious 'ethics' vs 'lets make this meeting count for our startup' thoughts - but in the end told them that there was no Business case and we dont think they should be doing what they want to - here is a cheaper, more workable alternative - but it wasn't sexy enough for them and they wanted some Harry Potter wand magic ...😞
All this while I'm stealing glances at the watch as death, taxes and school runs don't wait for anyone and a 14 year old needed a school pick up
This is me - for a brief 20 min window in a coffee shop - hopped up on some even happier pain killers - balancing it with some serious caffeine ... trying to unthink the pointless meeting I'd just had and hoping Karma is a thing and someday when the clients realise the Business case doesn't stack up - they remember the girl who drove 100 miles with a bad back to tell them so .
PS - I made it to the school run albeit 5 mins late, and shamelessly lied to my son and blamed traffic (mummy guilt) 🙈 ...also 4 more hours of work later in the evening ..
