London Tech Week Day 1: I Went In Not Expecting Much. I Was Pleasantly Surprised.

Some cryptic takeaways for us from today - - A huge push for investments in the U.K. rubber stamped by the Prime Minister being a surprise keynote with the very impressive Jensen Huang

- The Tech Nation report on U.K. was surprisingly a lot more bullish about British AI prospects and the numbers on VC funding and growth in Europe were encouraging.. download here 👉🏻 (https://lnkd.in/e474SjUD)

- Lots of positive noises on encouraging more skills & diversity & inclusion throughout the day today - warm fuzzy sistahood vibes but not much by way of real policy changes or any concrete investment into Women Founders by the government unlike countries like India

- Refreshing to see an open acknowledgement and discussions with regards the risk averse European mindset and the OTT regulatory environment which deters investment in U.K. & Europe in general and we can see green shoots of encouragement from the govt wanting to change this …

- Lotsa gimmicky fun displays if you have time to queue for them …

… And hilarious to see ‘Britishness and the lack of swag & self-promotion ’ being touted as factors for lesser unicorn startups coming out of Britain .. 😄

There were way too many amazing sessions to choose from and Synaptyx AI mostly focussed on AI For Retail and AI For Telecom … It was interesting to see the curse of Pilot Purgatory being discussed in terms of real use cases … the lack of any real ROI movement and failed use case discussions by the panelists were just so refreshing to hear and helps startups like us refocus and prioritise accordingly …

Also, for all of the noise being made around Agentic AI- the evidence on the ground so far seems to show it in its very nascent stage with most Enterpises (what we heard anyway) … which is exciting and hopeful from an opportunity perspective …

All in all - loved the energy and the buzz …

Big downer - the rubbish WiFi - ironically for a tech event the connectivity was the worst I’ve experienced in recent memory …

But I’ll be back again tomorrow … bright eyed and bushy tailed making difficult decisions on which sessions to miss …

Big hearts and big ups ♥️🫶🫶♥️ to the organisers Kudos London Tech Week 👏
